PetView Privacy Policy

PetView lets you play content on your TV for your pets and control it from your phone. We collect as little as we can get away with. Here's the honest inventory.

What we collect

• Account: your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see or store your plain password).
• Devices: an identifier for each TV you pair, its name, when it was last online, its volume/playback status, and the list of streaming apps installed on it (names and icons) so we can show you launch buttons.
• Your choices: favorites you save, routines and schedules you create, and the commands you send (play, volume, launch app), which we keep briefly to deliver them reliably.
• Technical data: IP addresses (used only for rate limiting and abuse prevention), and crash reports from the app containing the error message, app version, platform, and device identifier — never your email or name. Crash reports and rate-limit records are deleted within 90 days.
• Support conversations: if you use our help assistant or contact support, we keep the conversation and, when you're signed in, basic details of your paired TVs (platform, model, when last online) so we can actually help. Support records are automatically deleted after 90 days.

Payments

Subscriptions are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your card number and billing details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout pages and are never sent to or stored on PetView's servers. We receive from Stripe only your subscription status (trialing, active, canceled), the plan you chose, and a customer reference ID. What we don't collect

• No card numbers or billing addresses — payment credentials go directly to Stripe and never touch our systems.
• No location data, contacts, photos, or microphone.
• No viewing history from other apps — we know what PetView started, not what you watch in Netflix.
• No text you type in other apps. On TVs where you enable the optional accessibility feature, it is used solely to identify and press Play buttons inside streaming apps; it does not read or collect typed text or any other screen content.

How we use it

Only to run the service: authenticating you, delivering your commands to your TV, syncing your favorites across your phones, and running your schedules. We do not sell or rent your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who else touches it

Our infrastructure providers process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), and Stripe (payments). Content plays through the third-party apps you choose (YouTube, Netflix, etc.) under their own privacy policies. When you paste a video link, our server may fetch that page from the streaming service to auto-detect the video's length — nothing about you is sent with that request.

Your rights

Depending on your state or country, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. Email us and we will honor these requests for all users, regardless of location, within 30 days. We never discriminate against anyone for exercising privacy rights.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. Command history is short-lived operational data. To delete your account and everything tied to it, email us at the address below and we'll complete it within 30 days.

Children

PetView is for pet owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and note the new date at the top.
